This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made by House Clearance Highbury in respect of the financial year ending 31 December 2025. It sets out the steps we take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains.
House Clearance Highbury provides professional house clearance and related services to residential and commercial customers. Our operations involve the collection, sorting, and responsible disposal or reuse of household goods, as well as the use of subcontractors, waste management partners, and suppliers of equipment, vehicles, and workwear.
We recognise that the sectors in which we operate, including waste management, logistics, and outsourced labour, can carry a higher risk of labour exploitation if not carefully managed. We are committed to ensuring that modern slavery and human trafficking have no place in our organisation or any part of our supply chain.
House Clearance Highbury has a clear zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, human trafficking, child labour, and exploitation. This policy applies to all employees, agency workers, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers who work with or for us.
We expect everyone associated with our business to act with integrity and to uphold the rights and dignity of all people. Any breach of this policy is treated as a serious matter and may result in termination of employment or business relationships, and where appropriate, reporting to relevant authorities.
We work only with suppliers and partners who share our commitment to ethical conduct and compliance with applicable labour and human rights laws. As part of our due diligence, we assess new and existing suppliers based on their labour practices, transparency, and ability to demonstrate compliance with modern slavery legislation.
Suppliers are required to confirm that they do not use forced, bonded or involuntary labour, that they do not engage in human trafficking, and that they respect the rights and freedoms of their workers. We specifically seek assurances regarding the use of recruitment agencies, working hours, wage practices, and the prohibition of child labour.
To support our zero-tolerance policy, House Clearance Highbury conducts proportionate audits and checks on suppliers considered to be at higher risk. These audits may include on-site visits, document reviews, and discussions with management and workers, either directly or through competent third parties.
Where we identify areas of concern, we engage with suppliers to establish corrective action plans with clear timescales. If a supplier fails to address serious issues or shows unwillingness to improve, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate the relationship.
We seek to ensure that our management team and relevant staff understand the risks of modern slavery and how to identify and respond to potential cases. Training and awareness briefings cover the indicators of exploitation, our internal reporting process, and how to escalate concerns externally when required.
We encourage an open culture in which staff and contractors feel able to raise concerns in confidence without fear of retaliation or disadvantage.
House Clearance Highbury provides clear reporting channels for anyone who may have concerns about modern slavery or unethical labour practices in our operations or supply chain. Employees are encouraged to report concerns to their line manager or a senior manager as soon as possible.
Where an individual feels unable to raise the issue through normal management channels, they may use our confidential whistleblowing route by contacting a designated senior manager directly. All reports are taken seriously, investigated promptly, and handled sensitively. We do not tolerate victimisation of any person who reports a concern in good faith.
We are committed to ongoing improvement in identifying, preventing, and addressing the risks of modern slavery. Each year we review the effectiveness of our measures, taking into account any incidents reported, audit findings, changes in our operations, and evolving best practice.
This statement is reviewed and updated annually, or more frequently if required by law or significant changes in our business. It reflects our commitment to upholding human rights, promoting fair treatment, and ensuring that House Clearance Highbury remains vigilant and proactive in the fight against modern slavery and human trafficking.
